Birhanu Salam is an African American photographer and visual artist based in Atlanta, Georgia, working under the name 73LIGHT. He is currently pursuing a B.F.A. in Photography with a minor in Sociology at Georgia State University. His practice examines the persistence of social conditions and the distance between collective             awareness and meaningful acknowledgment. Drawing from portraiture, constructed imagery, and historical visual traditions, his work often uses familiar subjects and symbols to reconsider how they are understood. Through this visual language  Salam considers how familiarity can normalize what remains unresolved, drawing attention to conditions society has learned to recognize without fully confronting.
